This small soda fired sipper is made from stoneware clay, using a mix of clay and minerals to create surface detail during the firing process. 

Soda firing is an ‘atmospheric’ firing process - soda is sprayed into a specialist kiln near top temperature; the soda vaporises and glazes the pottery, fusing and reacting with each pot as it flows through the interior of the kiln. During this volatile process, each piece of pottery catches the soda slightly differently, creating highly individual and unique items.
