Welcome to Ankor

Ankor Cornwall is run by ceramicist Jethro Lynch and jeweller Tegen Montgomerie, who share a studio just north of Penzance in West Cornwall. Working side by side, their practices are united by a shared connection to the coastal landscape, shaping a collection of ceramics and jewellery that reflects the textures, tones and rhythms of the sea.

Ceramics

Jethro Lynch’s ceramic practice is rooted in a deep connection to the sea. Working primarily with stoneware, he builds layered surfaces using slips and glazes in shifting marine tones, creating functional pieces that feel both grounded and quietly expressive. His current exploration of soda firing brings an added sense of movement and unpredictability, with each firing leaving its own atmospheric imprint on the work.

The Sand & Sea collection captures the ever-changing energy of the coastline, echoing waves as they meet the shore. In contrast, the Ankor Tableware range embraces simplicity—clean lines and soft tones designed for everyday use, with a calm, contemporary feel.

Jethro’s practice is shaped by his time working in with Jack Doherty, as well as his role as a technician at the Leach Pottery—experiences that continue to inform the balance of tradition, material, and process at the heart of his work.

Jewellery

Each piece of jewellery is thoughtfully handcrafted by Tegen Montgomerie in her Cornish cottage studio using sterling silver. Her practice is driven by a curiosity for process and texture, exploring the meeting points between contrasting elements—hard and soft, rock and water, land and sea.

This sensitivity to the natural environment is reflected in her work, from softly weathered surfaces to organic forms, such as the sea-worn textures of her silver pebble earrings.
