This trio of soda fired tumblers are made from stoneware clay. They have been fired on their side to create surface detail during the firing process. Due to the process of side-firing, the pots are more elliptical than circular.

Soda firing is an ‘atmospheric’ firing process - soda is sprayed into a specialist kiln near top temperature; the soda vaporises and glazes the pottery, fusing and reacting with each pot as it flows through the interior of the kiln. During this volatile process, each piece of pottery catches the soda slightly differently, creating highly individual and unique items.
